Shockwave Therapy Services
What is Shockwave Therapy?
Shockwave therapy is a non-invasive treatment that uses acoustic waves to stimulate healing in injured tissues.
How does it work?
Radial shockwave therapy (RSWT) can break up calcium deposits in tendons, increase blood flow, and stimulate the release of growth factors. It stimulates the release of substance p and calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP) which is a key component of wound healing.
What conditions is it useful for?
RSWT is not suitable for new injuries, inflammatory conditions, swelling or nerve pain. It is an extremely effective treatment for plantar-fasciitis and tendinopathies with the greatest benefits found when used in combination with an exercise program.
It can also be used for non-union fractures, calcific tendonitis and bursitis as well as other soft tissue injuries.
How quickly will I recover?
Typically, 3-6 sessions are recommended. Usually improvement starts after 1-3 sessions. Minimal side effects can sometimes occur, redness on skin, possible bruising and some discomfort. It is recommended that you don't engage in strenuous physical activity for 48 hours after treatment.
